l'inspiration

I've been so inspired looking at old pictures of Paris. I love both the archicture pictures and people pictures. I can seriously spend hours on Flickr. Somebody needs to smack me so I can get back to work!

All of those beautiful old photos inspired this recycled design:

Oooh and here's a fun little collage I made:

Hope everyone has a fun day today! Today I'm gonna finish off some work, go hang out with Freddy, go for dinner, then we're gonna go look at a duplex with Freddy, Jen, and James! Exciting times!

Expect the unexpected

I never thought I would do a hockey post, EVER in my life, but I was so moved by something I read about Georges Laraque, a player for the Montreal Canadiens hockey team.

Ok, firstly, those of you non-Canadians reading this, you have to try to grasp how huge hockey is here. Hockey players are celebrities, as in, people actually recognize them if they see them on the street. Everyone watches hockey- grandmas, schoolteachers, even hipsters. Weird, right?

Anyway, someone on my FB mentioned Georges Laraque being vegan, and I became curious and went to his website. I was surprised to find a super sincere, heartfelt, and touching letter on his page, explaining why he chose to be vegan. I hate admitting when I'm wrong, but this really changes the way I feel about hockey players. I always thought they were big macho jocks who have road rage and really like steak. I guess it's wrong to stereotype.

I just find it really awesome that Laraque is willing to risk his "manliness", especially since acting "tough" and psyching out the other team is a huge part of the game. I also think he is able to reach an audience that might never have thought about animal rights before.

Georges Laraque, I have never had a favorite hockey player, but you are now my #1.

(Aw, he does yoga, too. So cute!)

Foolin' around.

Today is one of those days where I just can't stop playing with Photoshop. I just discovered these awesome "post office" brushes from Obsidian Dawn. They're free and they have lots of other cool ones, like feathers and clouds. They had a post office stamp for Montreal and for Russia, which I thought was kinda funny...so I used them on these little "post cards". Ooh and I found the backgrounds on Flickr. Wahh!! This makes me miss getting snail mail...

Sweet! These are some new shirts I have up in my etsy shop! These two tops ones are made from vintage bedsheets, and the blue one is from vintage deadstock fabric. They're also made in a limited run so you'll never bump into anyone with your shirt!

Hope everyone's having a wonderful summer day.

Birthday biking picnic fun.

A bunch of us got together this Sunday to celebrate Freddy's birthday. We biked to a park in Verdun and had a picnic near the St. Lawrence River.

The bike gang!

Angie and I, chillin' in the woods. Love her cute vintage 1950's dress.

Picnic time! Mmm, there were sooo many delicious treats! Mmmm that Dufflet chocolate that Jen brought. I'm drooling just thinking about it!

All in all, a perfect day! Freddy is the happiest 31-year-old ever.

Saturday

The weather is gorgeous right now! I took out my giant lens for the occasion. I rarely use it because it's such a pain to carry, but I love the depth of field this lens allows.

Going to HQ turns 3 tonight, are you?

silk and ruffles

I've been in such a girly mood lately.  I always go through this cycle....sometimes I just want to make super girly things, and then BAM all of a sudden I can't bear the sight of ruffles and I just want to make really geometric things. Ahhh I'm such a typical Libra....I always need to balance everything in my life.
